  • multi articulations with KS or not ?

    Hi,

I'm building my own orchestral template.

Is it better to load a multiarticulation patch/instrument, with keyswitches to change articulation ? ( so I have all my artlation on the same track in my DAW)

Or is it better to load all the articulations I want as different instruments in my DAW ( So I have one track by articulation)

    thanks for help,

    Best regards,

    Eric

  • Hi Eric,

I prefere using keyswitches, and I have the impression that here in the forum most peoaple are using them. For orchestral work this helps you to write music that could be played with a real orchestra. Also way less tracks (some VSL instruments have over hundred different articulations). Therefore I try to keep my key-switches consistent over all instruments, that helps remembering them.

But others like the other approach more, and it is sometimes less limiting when writing music like epic music stuff, sound-design e.g.

If you write music that should be played by a real orchestra I would recommend KS. But other then that use what makes you comfortable.

    Best, Ben

Vienna Instruments makes easy dealing with custom sets of articulation. Since they can be recalled when actually used, big presets may also be very light on memory.

As for myselft: yes, I prefer keyswitches! 😊
