    Hi everyone,

    I wonder if any VSL Ensemble users with a Xeon-based system would be so kind as to offer some advice/experience.

    I don't have a huge budget, so I'm thinking of buying a second-hand server with as much RAM crammed into it as possible. My price-point seems to suggest something along the lines of a system based off two E5-2680s (v1) and 192GB DDR3 memory.

    Assuming I have decent SSD drives, would this system likely to be able to cope with a large orchestral template? (It would include quite a few VSL Instruments and many instances of Kontakt and Play.) Being honest, until fairly recently, I was using a system with an old Asus P6TSE Deluxe board at its heart, having crammed twice the amount of memory it officially claimed to support into it! Surpisingly, it was pretty stable and worked rather well.

    If anyone has any other advice (e.g. is it really worth going for a dual-socket system, or would a faster single-socket system actually be better), that would be much appreciated.

    I have never dealt with servers or Xeon processors before, so apologies if these are very basic or stupid questions.
