  • Strange 2 second pause before bouncing and after playback in Logic Pro

    Hi there

I'm using the latest VEP 6

I have two slaves 1. PC and 2. iMac in a machine room about 70 feet away from my main studio.

My main computer is a 12 core mac pro

Reently, a strange pause has developed in Logic when I bounce a midi to audio track in place, and then another 2 second after, when I play back the track in Logic.

If I disconnect the PC slave, but the imac slave is still connected the pause goes away.

AND if I switch to the imac as the host with the same template connected to the PC there is no pause.

But for some reason the pause remains on my Mac Pro

Somehow this developed over time. For a year the mac pro had no problems even thought the slave connection was 70 feet away so I'm not sure it's the distance.

Hope my explanation wasn't to confusing

    thanks!

  • One more little tidbit

It seems the 2 second lag is from Logic waiting for VEP to do something before it can playback. I tried bouncing and then disconnecting VEP before playing back. After disconnection the playback is instantanious.

So somewhere between Logic and VEP there is something causing a lag. I tried every compination of Logic's settings and buffers in VEP but no luck

  • Looks like it has something to do with the number of instances on my PC. There are over 50. If I take it down to 10 the playback pause problem starts to go away.

I have all the instances decoupled. Is there anything else I can try? Mauybe a buffer setting somewhere?

    thanks!

  • Well.... VEP 7 solved my pause problem. Yay!
