  • [SOLVED] "Activating" MIDI-Ports in Cubase 10?

I just organized a template in VEPro7 and Cubase Pro 10 and I got a problem to connect the MIDI-Ports of VE with Cubase.

In my instances I use a lot more than 16 Instruments (all VIPro-Instances), so I have to work with several MIDI-Ports, for example:

    WOODWINDS
Port 1: Channel 1-16 (Piccolo - Englisch Horn)
Port 2: Channel 1-16 (Heckelphon - Contra Bassoon)
    Port 3: Channel 1-16 (Soprano Recorder-BassKrummhorn)
    Port 4: Channel 1-3 (Kontrabass-Krummhorn - Serpent)

I created the MIDI-tracks in Cubase with the Outputs from VE and would like to connect the ports and channels of the Cubase-tracks with the mtaching ports and channels in VE.
But when I open the track-"Inspector" in Cubase, I can't chose between different ports but only between the VE-Instances (Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion etc.)

But what I need is something like this:

    WOODWINDS (Port 1)
    WOODWINDS (Port 2)
    WOODWINDS (Port 3)
    WOODWINDS (Port 4)

to be able to select the matching ports and channels. I just spoke with the Cubase support and they said there should be a way to "activate" the MIDI-Ports in VE so that they will appear in the track-inspector. They also said there is no way of "activating" the ports in Cubase so I am asking my question in this forum.

How do you manage to connect the MIDI-tracks in Cubase to a VE-Instance with more than 16 Instruments?

    Thank you very much!

  • I would like to specify what I am aiming at.

During organizing my template, the youtube tutorials by Cory Robbins were a great help:

In the second video one can see how he choses the MIDI-Ports in his track-inspector in Cubase (see the attached screenshot). I wonder what I have to do to get all the possible MIDI-Ports listed in the device I am able to chose from.

  • Hi Havergal,

Did you make sure that you inserted VE Pro as a VST3 /// plug-in?

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hey, Paul!

Well I THOUGHT I did but it seems that I loaded VE in the 64bit version without the "///". Now everything works fine.

Thank you very much! Great help as always!
