  • An easier way to navigate Synchron Player (for REAPER users)

    Hey all,

My experience with Synchron Player is limited (at the time being) to Epic Orchestra 2.0, but one of the common things I see mentioned about it is that it can be unwieldy to navigate the tree structure with multiple sets of keyswitches needed for selection in each dimension.

For users of REAPER, there's a handy script that can speed this up dramatically. Here's the link:

    Reaticulate

It's an alpha release at the moment, but from my testing it works flawlessly with VSL products, including VEP. I'll spare you most of the details, but the important thing is that the script utlizes program changes as what essentially amount to macros. Each program change can have up to 16 different "outputs" that feed into each midi channel. These outputs send a variety of information, including CC, note on/off, toggles, etc.

Where this becomes relevant for Synchron is that, with one program change, you can effectively trigger multiple keyswitches at the same time. Furthermore, these program changes can be organized in a graphical, dockable window with icons, groups, etc and easily step recorded on to your sequence. There are also advanced features to map it to control surfaces, but as I don't have TouchOSC or Lemur or anything like that, I haven't experimented with it.

If you're a REAPER and Synchron user (or use any VST with a complex keyswitch system), I highly recommend you check it out! Huge timesaver.
