  • Synchron-capable Mac

    Hi friends,

is my Mac Pro mid 2010 with 2x3,46 MHz CPU with 96GB Ram and three SSDs (each makling between 250 and 500 MBit) still capable for the Snychron libraries. And if not: would the iMac 2019 or the iMac Pro be sufficient. Or should I better wait for the MacPro?

Which is the perfect Mac-configuration for Synchron at the moment?

    Best Alfred

  • The most cores and the most RAM possible.  Where things get a little hairy is recording with multiple mic positions.  Also, even the Synchronized Dimension Strings can be pretty taxing.

I know that's sort of a simple answer, but you really need the max machine you can afford.

  • Hi Stephen, so an iMac or iMac Pro with 8 cores does have enough cores and threats? My Mac Pro 2010 has 12 cores and 24 threats but I am afraid the cpu might be too slow for Synchron.

See if you can do the iMac Pro with 10 cores. ðŸ˜Ž

  • Good idea. Do you think it will be sufficient for Synchron. The Mac Pro seems to be over 10.000 if fully equipped. How much RAM should the IMac pro have?

  •     I'm using 6 instances of Synchron in VEP 7 with my 6-core MacBook Pro with many other things. I finally had to manage the 'template' by disconnecting from my heavy BFD3 instance and starting a separate project.

I think you have enough machine but If you got 'em, smoke 'em as they say.

  • Hey, that sounds good. 6 instances means 6 Synchron-instruments or more? And wat is BFD3? Sorry i ask that stupid
