  • VEP plugin: GUI of served plugin

Sorry for the basic question, I'm on a learning curve...

Is it possible to edit VSTi plugins via their GUI from the DAW when they are hosted by a remote VEP server?

If not, is it possible to select presets remotely?

If not, what is the expected workflow? I'm considering Pianoteq where I might want to tweak the model for a particular session. When the VSTi is hosted in the DAW conventionally, the GUI allows easy editing and the plugin state stays saved in the session.

    Thanks for any input.

  • From what I've gathered (someone please correct me...)

VST Plugin parameters are generally edited through the VST plugin's GUI as presented in the VEP instance and that this is accessed on the slave machine's video monitor, or through remote desktop software such as VNC.

The VST plugin state is saved across across the network into the DAW session automatically via the VEP plugin.

When a DAW session is loaded, the VEP plugin requests a template from the server then transfers the session's settings for the VST plugins to the server.

Is this correct? Thanks for any comments.

  • Hi Duggle,

GUI editing always needs some access to the interface on the networked computer (seperate monitor, VNC or similar).

You CAN automate all automatable parameters of any plug-in with VE PRO 7 (the plug-in developers decide what they offer), with any controllers you assign to the parameters.

    Best,
