  • Closest MIRX to Synchron Stage IR?

Hello. I'm wondering what MIRX extension is considered most compatible and/or similar to the Synchron Stage for purposes of combining VI Pro with Synchron libraries? I realize using MIR Pro with the Synchron Room Pack would be the optimal solution, but I have all the MIRX extensions already and would prefer to simply use one of those. Thank you so much!

  • Hi

I guess it's the Teldex Scoring Stage.

  • Thank you, David. That’s what it sounded like to me as well, with the sonic differences between the two venues being fairly subtle. Thanks again!

  • I would say Teldex as well. Synchron Stage sounds a bit brighter and seemingly also a bit more spacious, but they both have that compact sound that's very versatile.

  • Thank you, Jimmy. Based on some listening tests, I think you're right. Sage Gateshead seems to have a similar though slightly shorter tail, but its sound is quite different.

Of course, what would be ideal is the availability of Synchron Stage MIRx, but there are plenty of goodies to be happy about already. :-)

  • You can always go to MirPro of course, which includes Syncron.  ;-)

I personally really like working with MirPro a lot, but its definitely more money.  But I'd also love to have the Synchron Mirx mode presets for it as well...  So here's hoping Mirx will get synchron added in the not too distant future.  I suspect it may be a while however.

  • Initially I debated between MIR Pro and a MIRx venue. The single venue was cheap, so that's the route I went. But then I had to get another one for chamber music and then...  Next thing I know, I would have a MIR Pro 24 and a room pack for the cost of the MIRx -- without an upgrade path in sight. Oh well! I'm guessing I'm not the only one. :)

  • Related to this, as I've just finished mixing some material that combined ynchron (and SYN CHRON-ized) libraries with VI libraries, I am finding that Teldex Studios in VSL Convolution (I haven't tried my MIR Pro or MIRx variants yet) can work well across-the-board as the shared Aux Reverb Effect, when the Synchron patches had the global reverb turned off (even though they still have some ambience from mics and from low-level reverb channels and per-mic inserts, which I keep pretty low), and the Vienna Instruments instances left reverb off as well.

I have not yet checked to see if this works well when embedding the reverb in the individual patches, but I would think the Teldex stuff probably works pretty similarly in each way it is applied (MIRx, VSL Convolution from Vienna Suite, MIR Pro, and Synchron Player).

Based on this experience from this week's mixing, it doesn't surprise me that the more reverberant uses of Synchron Player would work well with Vienna Instruments enabling MIRx and using the Teldex Scoring Stage.

I have tried many other convolutions, and nothing seems to blend as well as Teldex.

  • Thanks, Mark! Sounds like Teldex is the way to go, which is great as it sounds fantastic for many uses.
