  • VEP Demo Version-elicenser Control Error

    Hallo guys,

I tried installing the keyless-DEMO Version of the VEP for Windows (Windows 10, 64-bit), but  during launching

I get an  "elicenser Control Error" popup with following information:

"eLincenses contains no valid liecense for this application."

I choose the option to "Click Licenses to view available licenses", but I cannot choose a license on the "eLicenser Control-Select License" window.

I should the close the programm, since it is not responding during launch.

I performed synchronisation ans maintenance to my elicenser and reinstalled VEP multiple times with no sucess.

    Any thoughts?

    Greetings,

  • Run Maintenance in elicenser.

    Restart the machine if needed.
    Ensure it's up-to-date.

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled VEP several times. After each deinstallation and installation I restarted my PC. After each restarting I run Maintenance for my elicenser. Windows is up to date. The keyless-Demo Version is since yesterday up. I guess, I should wait for bugs to be removed.

  • Ensure elicenser is up-to-date.

    EDIT: irrelevant

I didn't know there was a "keyless demo". This would not appear on any key, then.

So I downloaded it and ran it, and opened it. "Keyless" is literal, you do not need to fuss with elicenser at all. It simply launched and ran here.

vsl.support is your destination if it doesn't simply work, then.

  • Remove the elicenser dongle and launch VEP. See if that works for you.

  • I uninstalled VEP -> removed my elicenser dongle -> Restarted my machine -> Installed VEP -> Restarted my machine and launched VEP. It's launching now. Now I plugged my elicenser back in and tried. It shows the error message that no valid license found, but VEP launches after that. So I guess all it required was a restart after installation.

  • I'm having the same problem. It worked before I bought the SYNCHRON-ized SE Vol1.

Now I get the same error with the eLicenser connected. When it's not connected it just hangs on the splash and doesn't complete launching.

  • Hi Karel.

I am also having the same problem, and was hoping to test streaming my Kontakt and Omnisphere libraries from my PC to Logic Pro X on my Mac Pro, prior to buying VEP 7.  Have you any idea when the repaired update will be released?

  • Hi.

We will be releasing the update on mondy or tuesday this week, if all tests are fine.

Thanks for the information and the good work! Have a nice weekend!

  • I have a similar problem to the one stated in this thread.

The keyless VEP won't start up when an eLicenser dongle is connected. If I disconnect it, all is fine. If I connect it, VEP either stays on the splash screen forever, or silently dies after some time.

I should mention that I'm trying to set it up in a VirtualBox environment, but the eLicenser Control Center works fine, so does VEP keyless without the eLicenser. I have a 32 core FreeBSD server with 64GB of RAM, so I run a Win10-64 guest in VirtualBox and assign it 8 cores and 32 GB of RAM to run some libraries for me, so my laptop is happy.

EDIT: Maybe also worth mentioning: I have a first generation Steinberg eLicenser. Is that a possible issue?

I just want to make sure I won't have the issue once I buy the full version.

Anything I can try with the keyless version? I wonder why it checks for the eLicenser at all actually...

  • Hi,

I just sent you a regular VE Pro demo license, that should definitely work.

  • Hi,

    thanks.

It doesn't work. I think there's an issue with the eLicenser on the host USB port. It is recognised by the eLicenser software in the guest OS, but not very reliably. I guess either the eLicenser or the VirtualBox USB causes the issue.

I'll test on another machine (no VirtualBox there). If it works there (which I assume), I'll order a ViennaKey with a license. If that works on the VirtualBox, I can order a second license for use on my old eLicenser on my desktop machine.

Thanks for the effort, I'll post an update how it works...

  • For the regular 30 days demo version you have to uninstall the keyless demo and install the VEP7 version from the MyVSL download section.
