    Hi everybody,

Volume 6 - Dimension Brass comes with normal and muted articulations for all instruments you find in our bigger collections Dimension Brass I&II, in a comfortable Special Edition size.

Volume 7 - Historic Instruments contains all the basics for our Historic Winds I-II, PLUS all recorders and the great glass harmonica. If you have always been eyeing at those great-sounding and great-looking historic instruments, now is your chance to go for it!

As always, those collections are available at an introductory price until August 31st, 2019.

    Enjoy!

    Best,
    Paul

  • Couple of things, because this question inevitably pops up (Paul, you've had this question come up enough times, you should have this in your original post :)  ).

Crossgrade prices, 240 Euros for the VI Dimension Brass and 35 Euros for the crossgrade to get the Synchron edition, in case anyone is looking for what the pricing is on the crossgrade. You have to buy the VI version first to get the discount on the Synchron edition (special note on this in the next paragraph). There is no upgrade path if you buy the Synchron edition first and try to get the VI edition afterwards (although, Im sure the sales staff at Vienna will work something out with you if you do it in reverse).

The special note, if you add the VI and Synchronized edition to your basket and buy at the same time, it will apply the discount (you can add them in any order, just note that the Synchron edition wont show the 35 Euro price on the product description page if you add it first, but it WILL show as 35 Euros on the checkout page when you go to pay, provided you have also added the VI edition).

Historic Winds work the same, 195 Euros for the VI, 25 Euros for the crossgrade.

Also, what the hell is a "crumhorn"?

    - thank you for the explanation, because the web page wasn't yet clear in this regard (maybe still to be updated).

    - of course you know what a crumhorn is, es ist ein Krumm horn! 😊

(in my early music academy in Italy we often described the crumhorn ensamble as a "mosquitos band" by the way...)

sounds a lot like a kazoo; it's a "capped reed" instrument shaped like a letter "J" -- there's a double-reed hidden inside the headjoint, so the player needs no embouchure; made as an SATB family, and notoriously difficult to play in tune -- of course, historically, it's possible some crumhorn apologist may have written "it's the instrument most like the human voice" ...as other woods & winds claim.   😊

  • Interesting! I am thinking about buying this so the explanation of a crumhorn helps :)

    Paul,

Thanks to the series of 30% discount offers over the past four months or so coupled with VSL's upgrade and bundle pricing model, I've been able to actually invest in almost all of VSL's product line. Without the aforementioned pricing policies, it would have been completely out of reach. I think it goes without saying that I'm quite satisfied with the products, but I also heartily approve of the "don't pay for the same samples twice" policy as well as the monthly discounts offered.

Simply put, without those policies and offers, I wouldn't be a customer because I wouldn't be able to be. I think that's an important kudos to pass on to the relevant people in the rest of the company, if you would be so kind.

    Thanks again!

    - Sam

P.S. If VSL samples a Theorbo with enough depth to be able to approximate this sound, I will pay approximately 5,000,000,000,000 dollars/euros/bushels of grain for it. 😊

  • Does anyone know how many repetitions the staccato articulations have in dim brass? The rep staccato articulations are not included, so is it 2 repetitions like the staccatos in other SE volumes?

    Hey Paul,

do you have any info in this? Would appreciate it.

  • Both the “normal” as well as the “synchronized” libraries sound awesome! Can’t you extend the offer until Sept. 2, please? Then I can squeeze it into next month’s budget... ☺️

  • Hi stan-k,

It's 4 alternatives for the staccato in SE Vol 6 Dimension Brass.

@jwitzsch: If you cannot make it in time, contact sales@vsl.co.at, we will find a solution. 1 day grace period won't be a problem.
