  • VEP 7 problems with plugins for instruments and effects

    Hi,

on my VEP 7.0.889 (64bit) on Win10 I am missing a large number of effects and instruments from various vendors. They all work fine in Studio One 4.5 and Cubase 10, the path to the correct vst plugin directory is set in the options. Reinstalled VEP a couple of times, rescanned the plugins many times (also individually in the list with the greyed out plugins), still many plugins are missing. All missing plugins (or at least most, haven't checked if the list is complete, meaning if the list is showing all missing plugins or just the majority) are shown under effects/unknown in grey, even though some of them are in fact instruments. The majority of those are UAD or iZotope plugins. Interestingly, 5 of the UAD plugins are showing up under universal audio and work fine, the other 40-50 are greyed. All Izotope plugins are missing. Some instruments such as Ivory II and one of my Ample Sound guitars are missing as well (the others work fine).

Is this a known bug or is there something I can do/try to get to a workable system?

    Best regards,

    Marc

  • Hi Marc,

for each iZotope plugins there are two dlls, that are both recognized as plugin, but only one works / is actually a plugin. This is fine as long as you can see the plugins in the fx insert.

For the other plugins: some plugin formats like VST3 is still unsupported and will be supported in a future update. For now you can't use these plugins.

For the other plugins that should work but don't it is hard to tell why they are not working. Make sure you have the necasary licenses on computer (eLicenser dongle / software, iLok dongle / software). It also helps to open the plugins directly in the DAW for the first time if a popup is showing. After that rescan these plugins.

    Best, Ben

  • Hi Ben,

thanks for your answer. I wasn't aware that VST3s are not supported (yet). But most of the plugins seem to be VST2s anyways. So if I take UAD Capitol Chambers and UAD Brigade Chorus as an example: both are VST2s, both are in the same plugin directory, both are licensed in the UAD tool, both work fine if I insert and use them from Studio One, but only the first one shows up in VEP 7, the later one is only shown in grey.

    Best regards,

    Marc

  • I don't have these plugins, so I cant test it myself. All the plugins I use work as expected, including the iZotope ones. You can contact support at support@vsl.co.at. Send them the exact plugin names and version (make sure you use the latest version). You can also try to contact the manufacturers of these plugins and maybe they have a solution.
