  • SELECTING AUDIO ENGINE IN VIPRO AND VIPRO

I was getting audio output fine for a while with several instruments in SE & SE+.  Then some setting changed, and now I get no audio output from any instrument.  When I load an instrument in VEPRO-Advanced View, I get no audio when I click on the the virtual keyboard.  The instrument is loaded in VIPro, but the keys on the virtual keyboard do not move.

I am now getting error messages about the Audio Engine.  Bad ASIO.  Where is the Audio Engine options selector hidden?  I cannot find it in either VEPro or VIPro.

  • I assume you are talking about the standalone versions. There is a Configuration button in the top. If you click that a popup appears and you can choose audio settings.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not solve the problem. I still get no audio from VEPro.

No, I do not use the stand-alone versions of either VEPro or VIpro. I use VEPro Server 64 bit and VIPro integrated into VEPro Server 64 Bit (see screen shot.) I still cannot find any select of the Audio Engine in either VE Pro Server 64 or VIPro.

However, I did follow your suggestion by loading Vienna Instruments Pro Standalone, and on top I found Application>Preferences. Under Select Audio Device, I found 10 devices (see screen shot.) Selecting ASIO produced an error message: Error starting audio, Bad Device. My speakers are connected via USB3. I selected WIndows Audio; Speakers (3-USB AUDIO DAC.) It worked. I was able to load an instrument and get audio through my speakers. But when I closed Vienna Instruments Pro Standalone and opened VEPro Server 64-bit with VIPro inside, I get no audio. When I load an instrument in VIPro, the virtual keyboard keys do not move, and I get no sound.

So, how (and where) do I select WIndows Audio; Speakers (3-USB AUDIO DAC.) as my Audio Engine Device in VIPro or VEPro Server 64-bit? (not the stand-alone versions.)

  • Hi starrmark,

If you are using Vienna Ensemble Pro Server, it will only work if it is connected with your DAW (and uses the audio settings of your DAW as well),

  • If you use Sibelius you must alter the audio engine settings in Sibelius, because its playback engine gets used. In the play tab there is a button for the instrument configuration popup, then on the bottom left is the audio engine settings. Tweak them until you are happy. You can use a higher buffer rate if you notice drop outs.
