  • Audio Dropouts and General Glitchiness in VEP 7

I am having some irritating issues with VEP 7 (most recent update .889).

It is running on a new, maxed-out, Mac mini running Mojave.

The DAW is DP10.01 running on a separate iMac, also on Mojave.

This identical system was working flawlessly on 10.01 and VEP 6 (Mojave).

    1) I'm getting audio dropouts anytime I play through anything. The max percentage of processor power used by each of two instances is 20-25%, but then it drops out to 0% - while the audio drops out - for a split second, over and over again. There is no consistency as to why this is happening. I've rebuilt the template from scratch - still happens. Removed all FX plug-ins - still happens. Restarted, reconnected, etc. - still happens.

    2) Slate Audio plug-in windows will not close after they are opened. The red X box simply doesn't work, so the windows just linger around the screen.

    3) Any time a Rescan of plug-ins is attempted, VEP 7 crashes.

I'm used to VEP making my workflow seamless - this has been a massive and frustrating waste of time.

I appreciate your time and attention to this matter.

    Thank you.

Update: Reinstalled and verified all licenses.

    Restarted everything.

    Still happening.

    Definitely VEP problem.

Attached is a clip, including the activity monitor showing how unmaxed everything is, showing dropouts happening repeatedly in both instances.

    Hi driouxbie,

Please send the crash-reports to support@vsl.co.at, with some additional information:

Which version did you use in the previous setup that worked flawlessly? You can definitely roll back to our archive version, does that fix anything?

Which HDs/SSDs are you streaming from, and how are they connected?

    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Thanks for responding.

I'll keep a crash report next time it happens.
The previous set-up was VEP6 - whatever the last update was.
I have too much work to do after spending 2 days creating new templates trying to fix this - rolling back is not presently an option.

Samsung SSD connected via Thunderbolt 3 - again, had no problems before the VEP7 update.
Computers are connected via Gigabit switch.

    Cheers.

    -drew.

  • Looks like pluginscan is one of the things that is crashing.

Just completely uninstalled and reinstalled VEP7.

    Still happening.

    Thank you for any help.

    Seriously losing my mind, here.

  • Just noticed that the percentage indicators drop down to zero randomly even when nothing is playing!!
