  • Synchronized Libraries + MIR (Teldex) mixed with Orchestral Tools

    I came to the conclusion that it doesn't make sense to mix sample libraries that were recorded in different studios. However, I like to have options and Vienna products are different because the older samples are dry and there is also the MIR room pack with the Teldex studio. In theory, this would make Vienna products compatible with the Orchestral Tools libraries like Berlin Strings which were recorded there. Has anyone tried to mix the two libraries with the MIR Teldex room? Does it work well? Are there any examples?

    Can I use the Synchronized versions with MIR just like the VI versions?

    Thanks!

  • Synchronized sounds are like the old Silent Stage ones when you turn the reverb off. If there is no official answer to your first question, I would be happy to try it myself. If you want, you can send me a piece (Logic or midi file) with just some of the instruments to be interpreted by VSL VI instruments. If you lie, send me also a mix with the other instruments rendered with OT sounds. I'll then send you them the VSL sounds processed with MIR PRO trying to match the complimentary OT sounds. I’m curious to see how they mix. Paolo

  • I don't have any OT libraries, but I have the Teldex room pack.

    I would like to know what the standard setting (50% dry/wet) is as it would be a microphone position in the OT libraries, or, actually in general. Maybe it's a question for Dietz...

    Does it come close to a Decca Tree? Does anyone know? And on the other hand, when increasing the settings to 100% dry/wet, would this be some kind of an ambient microphone?

    Example 1:
    – Instrument 50%
    – Global offset 50%
    --> Decca Tree ?

    Example 2:
    – Instrument < 50%
    – Global offset 50%
    --> Decca Tree + Close ?

    Example 3:
    – Instrument 100%
    – Global offset 50%
    --> Decca Tree + Ambient/Surround ?

    Example 4:
    – Instrument 100%
    – Global offset 100%
    --> Ambient/Surround ?
