  • Installation problem: "The destination directory doesn't have enough free space for the installation

    Hi,

I've have quite a lot of VSL libraries and been using them since 2008. Today I bought the Vienna Choir library but when I try to install it in the same folder as the rest of my libraries I get this error message:

    The destination directory doesn't have

enough free space for the installation.

/Users/(my_name)/Documents/VSL SAMPLES (24.01 GB free, needed 9.59 GB more)

Please press Ok and specify a different directory.

I have 83 GB free on my SSD HD (out of 500 GB). The folder with my VSL samples is 153 GB total. Is there a limit for how big a folder can be for VSL? It doesn't help if I try to install it anywhere else or in a different folder either. Very confusing.

    Any ideas?

  • It really means you lack the drive space; the installation needs more space than is finally used.

  • That was what I thought too. But I deleted a lot of files and moved some others and in the end I had more than 125 GB free space. Still got the same error message.

What I finally did was to choose the "ignore" option when I got the error message (why they have that I do not understand). I didn't want to take that risk at first but in the end I gave it a go. And it seemed to work. Installation worked flawless (despite the error message) and now everything is up and running. Strange.
