  • New to VEP ,,,,, I have A cpl of questions,,,

Hello Everyone, hope all is good and well with all of you.

I hope im in the right forum for this inquiry.

Im totally new to this VEP networking world and I have a cpl of questions as I need some clarification on a cpl of things.

Besides installing the program on each machine, what else do I install on the server side?

Do I have to install any of my actual vst instruments?

Do I install all my sounds and libraries on the server?

    or

does my server just point to all my vst instruments and sounds folders on my main machine.

Im building a new pc and want to run things smoother , even tho my new setup will handle the workload I want to play it safe and go the VEP way for all my VST instruments since many of them take up lots of cpu , but I was always confused on do the actual vst instruments and/or regualr audio files that you use in your session besides vst samples go on the server side or stay on the main side. or is that totally optional , if its optional I might just use the server side to back up things from the main side. I have not found a step by step tutorial or even in the manual where it addresses where and how does the server point to the vst instruments and your sounds..... again Im totally new to this theory of Daws working off a network so excuse the lack of knowledge I have on this concept.

ill be running Cubase 10 and im on windows

    thx for your time

  • you have to instal plugins & libraries on the server too

  • Thanks Home Studio

Do you know of any videos or online manual where it explains the steps and requirements?

    thanks again

    Thx Paul,

I did that already ,,I still dont see any vid or anyplace on the manual where it talks about third party vst's on where to install it on the slave and /or how to point VEP on the slave to the folder in the master machine,,,unless I missed it

some ppl say you have to install it on the slave and others say you just point the slave program to the folders on the master machine

I just want ot know which one is it,,,

    thx

  • Hi,

All samples and plug-ins have to be installed on the computer(s) you are using the VE Pro Server on.

    Best,
    Paul
