  • VI pro does not react well to midi keyboard in Cubase pro 10

    Hi,

When loading VI Pro 2 as a vst in Cubase 10 pro (not within VE pro), with most of my instruments (any preset), the keys below F2 (C4 middle) except B1 (strange!) do not react to my midi keyboard (Keystation 88). These are often keyswitch areas. I do not see the keys being activated on the virtual keyboard. Pressing the keys on the virtual keyboard with the cursor does work. Sometimes the behaviour is even more erratic. When I load the trombones or low brass from dimension brass, the lower keys do work, but higher keys (often keyswitches) don't and when I play a chromatic ladder on my Keystation, the keys on the virtual keyboard respond all over the place (keys are responding that I am not pressing).

I tried changing the middle key to C3 or C5, restarting the GUI or even the computer. Other instruments (Kontakt) react perfectly to the keyboard. Please help.

    Best regards,
    Heike

  • Hello Heike,

We will need a reproduction scenario to find out what could be wrong.
Do you want to send us such a sequencer song, with instructions on how to recreate your situation, with exact steps? support@vsl.co.at

    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul, I sent you some info by email. It looks like it’s not my keyboard that is the problem, but the way VI Pro reacts to the midi. Very strange... Best regards, Heike

  • I'm experiencing a similar issue even though my scenario is a bit different.

I'm using Cubase 10 latest, VEpro 7 latest, Synchron player latest with a yamaha stage piano as a master keyboard but I also tried to use a m32 native instrument keyboard to verify it wasn't just a piano problem.                          I'm on a windows 10 pc with my old rme fireface 800.

When I play, usually, the octaves where I trigger the notes play with no issues while the octaves with key switches on or not assigned (the greyed keys) are not triggered (I play on the keyboard in the right octave but no animation is shown or articulation selected) . If I move around the keyboard sometimes I can trigger those keys but at different octaves (let's say I have key switches on C1-F1 but I have to use randomly C3-F3 or C2-F2 or even C7-F7 to trigger them). As I said I have the same behaviour using the yamaha piano and/or NI m32 master. If you need it I can email you my cubase-vep template in order to find out if its a reproducible problem or something specific to my system.

    Thanks

    Walt!

Found this thread through search. Did you find the solution? I have a similar issue.

  • Hello everybody,

If you find a way to reproduce this behavior with a minimal setup, we will be able to find out more!

    Best,
    Paul
