    Hi

    I have some annoying phasing effect between VL1 and VL2 when playing the same notes. Are they based on the same samples ?

    I assume you are referring to the Orchestral Strings Violins .

    Hi,

    not sure what library the OP refers to, on my side it concerns the 1st and 2nd violins from the SYNCHROnized Special Edition, namely "1st Violins 14_beta18" and "2nd Violins 14_beta18". I would not be that surprised if they use the same samples, as the (non-synchronized) Special Edition does not have explicit 1st and 2nd violins in Orchestral Strings at all. So for me it looks as if the synchronized presets just differ in the synchron stage 1st/2nd violins IRs they use. The only point is, if I have explicit 1st and 2nd selectable I would assume they are meant to be used together ;-)

    I'm trying out the Synchron SE just now and have exactly the same issue with a very unpleasant phasing at times if vln 1 and 2 are in unison. Same passages work fine with VI Pro. In fact the phasing can also be heard on occasion just with a single violin playing sustained notes (sustained patch is the worst but legato is not immune). Violins are the most obvious but on occasion similar effects can be heard with other sections as well. If there isn't a good workaround for this, I probably won't be able to make the upgrade despite the fine accoustic and the odd improvement elsewhere.

    PS I suppose one workaround for unison doublings is simply to set the second part to play silent (talking about Dorico here) but keeping it in the score. I'll need to keep testing but further input would be welcomed!

    Hi, 

    Yes, those samples are the same, but were mixed with different umpulses and mixer presets.  

    So sending the same MIDI information can result in phasing... the different section sizes available with the SYNCHRON-ized Special Editions (Appassionata, Orchestral, Chamber, Dimension) will give you more options.
