  • Noob question regarding VEP workflow.

Hello there, complete noob here on VEP. I haven't bought the program yet because I can't seem to find an answer to a specific question regarding my workflow. So here it is:

I work on two different studios (on two different countries, that's another story!). First studio has two PCs which I would like to network with VEP in order to have more CPU power and RAM with my libraries. My DAW is Cubase 10.

I would like to work on a project where I use libraries from both my master and my slave PC and then save it to continue on the second studio. The second studio has only one but much more powerful PC with the same libraries installed. If I open the VEP project i created on the first studio, is it possible to point it to the new location of the libraries, which are of course now on the same PC? Is it an easy procedure?

Thanks a lot for any help!

  • This should be a very easy setup. Make sure you get a vienna key for each computer using VEP.

Also, i'd suggest saving a template of the Vienna Ensemble Pro server that you're using and bring it to the next location you're at. It would be key to open the right Server on the right machine that will be opening the instruments from those specific libraries.

Example: Computer A runs DAW and some Kontakt, Computer B runs Omnisphere and East West.

Make sure you save two templates, each server project so that when you open it up in your next location, it will be Computer B loading Omnisphere and East west, and Computer A opening DAW and Kontakt.

If all goes well, you should be able to open the VEP servers (again on the proper computers) and then open the DAW session and all should go well. If you have libraries in different drives/locations, you will need to relink those and may need to reconnect VEP instances to the DAW if needed. Nothing major, and nothing like not havin gVEP. It's a huge time saver.

*Open VEP before the DAW so it doesn't get confused.
