For many years I was saving money to buy the new Mac Pro and get rid of my good old mid 2010 Mac Pro. But when I configure this lovely new computer I end up at €13,500 and including the hard drive box I have to add another €2300. I do video editing in 4K And I have about 5 TB of sample libraries I want to use on a hard drive that is fast. Is there any alternative to this monster computer? The iMac early 2019 has only two thunderbolt slots on one bus and the MacBook Pro 2019 has four of them but maybe not enough speed. Would external Thunderbolt drives be fast enough? What would you recommend if I want to stay on Mac?
