  • Is there a way to make Bounce In Place (LPX) work with VEP 7?

I just ran into this - now that I have all my VEP instances setup and my first project that has almost all instruments hosted by VEP I went to Bounce In Place with Logic Pro X and found that the resulting wav was basically corrupted. It has cutoffs, missing notes etc. I assume this is because BIP works a lot faster than real time and something either in VEP or the connection to it is causing this issue.

If I switch the instrument to LPX instead of VEP then BIP works fine. I use this feature of LPX a ton and bouncing in place along with not being able to freeze tracks is a serious issue.

Anything I can tweak to try fix this?

    thanks

  • I just tried it here with 9 VE Pro 7 instances, each with 1 instance of EastWest Play Hollywood Strings Diamond, which is very resource demanding, connected to 9 VE Pro 7 software instruments  in Logic X 10.4.8.

Chose Bounce- And Replace All Tracks. The resulting bounces are flawless.

  • Thanks for testing! that is an almost identical setup that what I was doing so I'm wondering if I have something else setup incorrectly. I was trying to bounce the EW Yamaha instrument. I'll test my HO Strings and see if those work for me like you have there. I just have 1 instance per plugin because I want to keep all my mixing etc in LPX and not have crazy wiring/auxes.

  • Ok, so here is my test. If I use HO Strings it seem to work - however if I use any of my EW Pianos I get the issue. You can see how it's cutting off each chord in the BIP. If I load these instruments directly in LPX then I can BIP no problem. I tried adjusting buffers etc but it had no effect. I have this all locally on one Mac.

I tried 3 different plugins all with the exact same issue.

  • Hi,

This might be something worth reporting to EastWest directly. My colleagues there have VE Pro licenses to test and double-check.

  • Thanks Paul, I did that - seems like it is a known issue when you have VEP(PLAY)->LPX on some of the instruments, I tried it in Cubase and didn't have the issue. Nobody is sure where the issue lies exactly so it can be fixed.

    thanks
