  • Could you please get rid of that HORRIBLE eLicenser?

    Issues after issues after issues... Native Kontrol looks recursively for a Vienna Ensemble 6 license (the FREE version!) and I must force-quit NI AppScan. And it's not the first time it happens.
    Please, throw eLicenser in the junk.

  • My first impression... I like to own the Music software I buy... then, after many months before I realized the need to rescan my devices in my Digital Audio Workstation because VSL becomes the preset midi controller by default... I kept the VSL software installed for future use, even after many months with no online advice for settings with settings in Digital Audio Workstations (over six months later, I found my own settings: you can make VSL sound quality like the best VSL productions... in Digital Audio Workstations, you adjust the signal processsors as appropriate for highest-quality Music software, the settings vary)... look at VSL as an opportunity to always update and upgrade your Music Software as you continue to buy VSL Music software (very few Musical instruments manufacturers allow free updated Musical instruments and free upgrading of Musical instruments with new features of improved quality of Musical instruments), 100% secure in your very own Vienna Key! The eLicenser would not install, open, and run in my HP 8 GB RAM 1T HDD I bought during July 2019! Then, after 1-to-1-1/2 weeks of live chat with Steinberg, Steinberg updated the driver, twice, both updates, one after the other, functioned 100% in Microsoft Windows 10, and, yes, the latest version still functions 100%!


  • I'm not sure I understood the implied message. But I do know that with ilok I never had the problems I have with elicenser.

  • ...no hidden message... I had the iLok, too... the iLok was already dongle-less, yet I still love my Vienna Key!


  • I HATE the eLicenser!

    With the iLok I never ever had the troubles I get with the eLicenser. Today I finally lost ALL my VSL licenses: simply disappeared from this crappy piece of hardware...

  • I performed all the available options of "maintenance".
    Zero. Null.
    My licenses are gone for good.
    I have a second replacement Vienna Key here, but cannot download my licenses again on it: they are still "registered" on the broken key....
    I have no more words to comment this latest eLicenser performance.
    Only dirty words.

    Sorry if I was a little rude, but the elicenser definitely is not my favorite dongle management software. After turning the Mac off and on several times, disconnecting and reconnecting the Vienna Key, the licenses miraculously reappeared and I transferred them immediately and manually, one by one, to the replacement key (before he had second thoughts). Anyway I remain of the idea that the iLok may not be perfect but never created compatibility problems and loops of error messages..

    Thanks for the support, I have already written to customer support to deactivate the old Vienna Key.

    Good to know that you have found a solution there, and I agree: Situations like these are not comfortable, and luckily, they don't happen often (but they do appear with every kind of software protection).

  • I bought a new Mac Pro, installed all of my software (latest updates) and everything works like a dream....except the eLicenser. It's like a lottery....you win or your don't and you never know when. One day it works, the other it doesn't. 

    To be honest: I'm sick of this. So I kicked all software that uses this system out of my templates and workflow. I simply don't use them anymore.

    What a pity, but for professional work this is certainly no option. Much too unreliable.

    I have to say that I have never had this kind of issues with the online protection implemented by Apple. I might have to log in again from time to time, but it's just a matter of entering my password.

    With times, things seem to have gone worse, since I never remember an issue with eMagic's Logic hardware key. I have used it for more years than I have the eLicenser, and i can't remember a single issue.

    Please note: I'm not against the hardware key. I am against the incredibly low quality management software. I can no longer believe in problems in my Macs, since there are so many users with problems identical to mine, on different systems. And it si not a rare evenience, since it happens to me each two-three times I run something protected by the eLicenser (be it a VSL software or Dorico).

    Maybe it is time to reconsider the provider of your protection solution.

    I had to click OK a dozen times before having Synfire running.
    Please throw away the eLicenser.

  • Finally I was able to load all of the VSL plugin in Komplete Kontrol after performing a Plugin Rescan (Preferences > Plug-ins > Rescan), except the Synchron Player (the Synchron Player Surround will work, tho)

  • Hi Paul! Thanks very much for your help on this.

    I'm also having the same "synsopos.app" problem with my eLicenser on my new MacBookPro 2020 running Catalina.

    I have three eLicensers, and they all work fine on my old computers which all run El Capitan (MBPro 2015, MBPro 2012 and Mini 2013).

    But when I take those same eLicensers out of my old Macs and plug them into my new MBPro 2020, all my eLicensers work sporadically (for Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 standalone) or not at all (for VEPro 5 Server 64-bit).

    I'm still hoping there's a workaround or patch so I can keep using VEPro 5.  Or do I have to upgrade to VEP 7?  Thanks in advance.

    Personally, I'd upgrade to VE Pro 7, VE Pro 5 was designed too long ago to work 100% efficiently with a new OS like Catalina.

    I can provide you with a beta version of the eLCC to see if the elicenser troubles improve... please contact us via support@vsl.co.at if that's an option for you.
