  • Bösendorfer Upright - C5 is out of tune!

    Hey,

I'm sorry to report that C5 seems to be out of tune, you can quite easily test this by pressing all Cs in a row or going through a scale touching C5. Any chance how this can be fixed? Anybody else hear this?

    Best,

    Mango

  • Hello Mango!

Here's what the recording director of the Bösendorfer Upright, Michael Hula, says about your concern:

The Upright Piano was quite different to the Concert Grands in terms of sound quality. You've mentioned C5, but almost every key upwards from G#4 to C8 shows slightley a trembling character, even on a single string. From my experience, things like this happens with every Piano, the smaller it is. So, my goal was, to get out the best possible intonation. There's nothing to do to avoid the trembling effect completeley, it's built in with the character of this Upright. But such a behaviour could be found more or less in every piano.

I hope you can aceppt my explanation, we weren't lazy or careless with th intonation. We tried to get out the maximum of this instrument, as always.

    Best regards,
    Andi
