  • New VEP5 instances won't connect.

Problem: New VEP5x64 instances won't connect to the server.

At first, I noticed the DLL in my plugin directory had an older version number than the server. So I reinstalled and made sure to replace those DLLs with the latest, but even after rescanning the new plugins, it won't automatically pop up and connect to the server.

If I try to manually connect, it says the version #s for Master and Slave don't match. Meanwhile, my old projects are somehow connecting up just fine!

    I'm running....

    x64 Server Version - 5.4.16181

    x64 plugin DLL - 5.4.0.16181

New instances won't connect or see the server when I drag in the x64 vst plugin, but older projects connect up just fine when the project loads. Any ideas?

  • VEP5 was a fine host back in the day but now it has one foot in the grave.  I'm surprised anybody is still using it.

Any reason why you won't upgrade to at least 6?

    Nostalgia maybe?

  • I don't see why it shouldn't work for me. I spent good money on it before, why not? I don't need all of the latest features.

  • Oh, I see. You use it for the networking features. I'm sorry I misunderstood as I've always used the free version. I hope you find a solution but the problem you're going to run into with legacy software is stability as your OS, DAW, notation software, etc. go through their own evolution of updates and upgrades unless you keep the machine(s) offline but even that's precarious because if you have a hard drive failure... Like I said, I hope you find a solution.
