  • VE Pro 5 crashes after upgrading Windows 7 to 10

With Windows 7 no supported, I recently upgraded to Windows 10. Having previously run VE Pro 5 on a highly speced slave PC to a Mac, which ran a huge orchestral tmeplate flawlessly, I am now seeing crahses every few minutes with only a handful of instruments. I have included crash logs from the last few days if anybody is able to help.

I was aware if one problem where I hadn't set the Pc to not go into sleep mode but, having addressed that, don't think that's the cause of the issue here.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mark,

That looks like a problem on system level to me, probably caused by the migration from a Windows Major Version to a new one.

My suggestion is to setup Win 10 from scratch, this way you get everything installed the way it should be (the installers will install the correct version-specific files in the correct places).

Before you do that, you can also give it a try to update everything you can find, especially the "Visual Studio Redistributable" packages. Maybe you're lucky.

Sorry to have no better news there.

This could also be a very good time to upgrade to VE Pro 7.

    Best,

  • Thanks Paul.

I think I'll take the plunge and upgrade to 7. I understand that V.5 metaframes can be opened in V.6 but can they be opening in 7?

    Mark

  • Hi Mark,

Yes, that's possible. I have just sent you a fully functional demo license to check.
