HI,

It seems to me that release samples cannot be turned on and off in the Synchron Player, or did I miss something in the manual or the user interface?

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

That's correct, Release Sample on/off is not implemented in Synchron Player.

Best,
Paul

Thank you for the quick reply, Paul.

The reason I was asking is that someone recommended in the forum some time ago that double reeds sound best without the release sample. I always felt he was right about that, and switching off the release sample made them more crisp and natural sounding.

Best Regards

Stefan

Hello Paul,

Do you know if this feature is on the road map for Synchron Player? Recently I tried to use SYd-SE woodwinds and trills are quite unusable due to release samples overlapping - release samples play the last note after releasing key (and are louder then a main sample – just listen to attached mp3), so it's impossible to play 1-voice phrase with a succession of trills.

May I put a little FR to add Sample Release on/off check box somewhere to the player (akin to VIP Master Release Samples On/Off)?

Best regards,

andrzej

Hello Andrzej,

I'm not sure if that feature will make it into Synchron Player, but I will check again with our development team.

Best,
Paul

Another vote for adding the ability to turn off release samples.  If I use timbre adjust to fade out the timbre of the first note then quickly restore the timbre on the second note, the end of the release of the first note sometimes suddenly becomes too loud and audible.  Thanks for considering.

Another vote from me.  I do miss the feature (release samples on/off) in SYN player.  If it's not possible to implement into the player in a realistic way, the "cut release" patches seem to do the trick.  Is one possibility to implement those in more of the patches than just the measured repetition patches?

Another observation: in the SYN Solo Violin 2 and Cello 2, the "cut release" patches are missing from the measured repetition patches (last time I checked) which limits their usability considerably.  Any chance on adding those in?

If VSL isn't listening to Jay Bacal (whose request appears above), I'm not sure my vote will count. In my present template build, the inability to stop that release sample is prohibitive to my intended design. Please good Vienna people, let us override the release sounds with a per-slot setting in the Edit tab.

Sometimes, it seems software manufacturers doesn't ever talk to anyone who actually use their tools.

Why is this not an option? The woodwind trills are completely unusable, and I say that with experience of hundreds of concert orchestrations. No woodwind player EVER plays like that. That is especially true for Oboe, where the release sample is an entire phrase extra. And slow one, close to 16:th notes in moderate tempo.

Only workaround is to quickly attack with the expression to kill the volume, which is not worth it in a professional setting.
