  • solo violin extra long sustained note?

    Hi,

I am trying to find a solo violin articulation that will hold a note out for a total of ~13 seconds.  I am using Vl-sus-vib in Cubase, with a retard that goes from 40 down to 10 at the end (for that one note).  I can get about 8 seconds, but not 13.  Is there any solo violin articulation that will hold a note indefinately?  Thanks.

  • If you don't need a long note in the score, I would suggest you to cut the note at the bow change. Use the shortest space between the two halves of the original note.

  • Hi Zaffer,

if you are using the performance legato transition you can simulate a bow-change by using the MIDI CC 64 (sustain-pedal) to retrigger the note. This also gives you control when the rebowing should happen.

    Best, Ben
