Hi.

I have a new computer and upgraded to Windows 10.

From some reason, my dongel doesnt work and there is an issue in the device manager.

I have installed the latest ECC from Steinberg and went through every suggestion they give in the troubleshooting section - but it still dowsnt work.

The LED on the dongel lights when I connect it to the USB port but turns off after few seconds, when I connect it to a USB on my laptop (which does not have any audio software installed on) - the LED stays on.

I need the e-Licenser in order to use VEP 6 .

Every thing else is working just fine (inc. iLok for my ProTools)

Thanks,

Omer.

Hi,

this sounds to me like an USB-Port problem. Have you tried to use another port? If you are using an USB-Hub, try connecting it directly to the computer.

Have you tried to enable Legacy USB support in BIOS?
Considering that this is new computer, all ports might be USB-3, and who knows how these dongles are treated by USB-3 port/driver.

Another option for USB-3 port is to connect the dongle through USB-3 hub that has dedicated USB-2 (not USB-3) port.

Do you have another computer you can plug the Vienna key into? Maybe the old computer you were using before? Just to make sure the key isn't malfunctioning.

Of course, whatever computer you plug the key into it will have to have the eLicenser software on it.

Incidentally, how old is the key?

It works on my Macbook pro.

I insaled the eCC and I can see all the lisences on it and the LED works.

I believe the dongle is about 3 years old maybe 4

Thanks for your answer.

BTW

I did try to connect it with a USB 2 hub - still not working.

I don't know if it will fix your problem but I suggest getting a new key and transferring your licenses because the warranty is only good for two years. Or get the VSL protection plan.

Since it seems to work in other computers I suspect that the problem is not with the key but something with your new computer. Maybe uninstall then reinstall the eLicensor?

It is a problem with the computer with no doubts.

I have already tried to uninstall and install , and actualy went through every single suggestion in steinbergs troubleshooting manual.

Still no good.
