Hi,

I couldn't find any topic with this same problem. I hope I can get some help here.

I'm trying to use "a4" and "a3" on horns and trumpets in Sibelius with the Synchronized Special Edition.

Sibelius changes to the correct midi channel but doesn't use the correct keyswitch. With a4 on the horn part, it's stuck on legato as the default sound. With a3 on the trumpet, it's stuck on major 2nd trill as the default.

Changing to other articulations works, so the problem is just that the default for some reason is those I just mentioned.

I have the Sibelius Sound Set and have imported the House Style. The manual sound set is set up correctly. I have of course double checked that the midi channels are correct in Vienna Ensemble.

Btw, I'm using Sibelius 2020.3 and the latest version of Vienna Ensemble and the Synchron player.

Hello J.Hall!

I can reproduce this, but don't have an explanation for it. It's not stuck on legato (or trills) though. These are just the new default articulations. Commands like "sfz", "sus" or the staccato mark work. You can use "tutti" instead of "a3" and "a4". Then sustain will work as default articulation.

Best regards,
Andi

Yes, maybe I wasn't as clear as I could. For me as well, it's only the default sound that is weird. It may involve other instruments but these were the ones I encountered during work yesterday.

I didn't think of using "tutti", I will use that in the meantime!

Btw, can this be expected to be fixed in a future patch?

It seems to me that something on the Sibelius side has changed. We could change the a3/a4 dictionary entries in our House Style file to be identical with the "tutti" entry. This on the other hand would mean that it is no longer possible to change the number of players with these commands for our Dimension libraries. So "fixing" these entries has a drawback.

Best regards,
Andi
