  • New performance of Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet

Just wanted to let the community know I've finished another large orchestral re-record this time of Tchaikovsky's  Romeo and Juliet which you can check out at https://soundcloud.com/chrismany/tchaikovskys-romeo-and-juliet. As an added bonus I've also fully synchronized the piece with a full orchestra performing the piece which you can not only hear but SEE the performance as well at www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9qo6BTY3dY.

This is the complete score re-performed, recorded and mixed using VSL Synchron-ized libraries and augmented with VI patches as well as a very few instruments from other libraries. This is 95% VSL, so go take a listen and/or watch.

    Enjoy!

    Chris

  • I was wondering how long it would take the large Dutch media corporation Avrotros to spot your somewhat insulting breach of their copyright on YouTube. Not long uh? Hope the NRP Orchestra don't sue you for defamation also lol.

Seriously, I don't doubt that many of us, to assist in simulating a video-recorded performance, have bent or "beat-mapped" DAW tempo precisely to the recording; but I don't recall ever seeing anyone publish the hybrid video-audio result as you did. Legality aside, did it not cross your mind that the NRPO musicians may not have taken too kindly to being used in your YouTube video, or did it simply not matter to you?

Whatever. Hope the legal remedy enforced by Avrotros and YouTube has taught you a much needed lesson.

  • I thought your rendition sounded remarkably good, except for a little "synthy"ness in the cellos/basses. Although in general I wouldn't trade any virtual performance for a real performance of a decent  orchestra, this is not bad at all for a virtual performance. Your programming skills are excellent.

But I agree with Macker. It was unfair to the musicians. Anyways the video seems to be taken down now so its all good.

    Congrats in the nice work.
