  • VE Pro 7 Only Receives on Port 1

I've been having a strange problem lately.

    I'm using VE Pro 7 (7.0.1056) with Reaper (6.11) on a Windows 10 computer.

If I start the VE Pro application, then instantiate the VE Pro VST3 plugin on a Reaper track, I find that VE Pro receives MIDI signals and plays instruments on all 16 tracks of Port 1.

This continues to work fine if I create another Reaper track and route its MIDI to the Reaper track containing VE Pro, using Bus 1 and any MIDI channel. I can play an instrument, change its MIDI channel in VE Pro and in the routing, and it still plays. So far so good.

But the VE Pro channels do not receive MIDI if I change the routing to any other port but Port 1.

So, with both the Reaper send routing and the VE Pro channels set on Port 2 (or 3, or any Port but 1),, there is no sound from VE Pro. Also, the MIDI indicators on the channels do not flash, although the indicator on the Instance tab DOES light up when I press a key.

Apparently, the MIDI signal is reaching VE Pro but is not being transmitted to the channels for some reason. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing VE Pro 7, but there was no change.

    I hope someone can help.

  • I should have added that VE Pro 7 has worked fine for me with all Ports in the past. I don't know precisely when this problem started, but I only observed it yesterday.
