  • Dimension Strings - some videos

For a current filmscore I needed some more versatile strings so I recently bought into Dimension Strings. I am still in the process of checking out all the different articulations, here is a video experiment with cellos and violas playing an improvised unison line, all using the performance legato portamento articulation, velocity x-fade assigned to a Midi controller and recorded while improvising.

    Instance 1: Cellos desk1 (players 1/3), instance 2: cello player 2, instances 3/4: viola players 1/2

Reverb: Comet and some Valhalla Shimmer

  • Grüße Simon,

Wie immer - und wie ich es von Ihnen erwartet habe - haben Sie meinen Erwartungshorizont überschritten. Sublim. Vielen Dank für das Teilen.

I've also recently bought the full VI Dimension Strings, and after your video I'm sure I won't see this library in the same way ever again. But for me that's the Stockhausen effect and I love it!

(Sorry if my German is atrocious - blame Google Translate.) [One edit thanks to Simon's gentle tutorial below.]

Thank you, I think Google Translate translated the verb sublime into a command Sublime!, other than that it wasn't too bad 😊

VSL Dimension Strings - 5 viola players, all use the sƒz articulation, players 1+2 occasionally switch to a crescendo patch. Portal provides tempo-synced reverse effect, Breeze 2 is used for the reverb.

VSL Dimension Strings - six cellos panned around the stereo field with Precedence - articulation: performance legato portamento espressivo, velocity x-fade assigned to modulation wheel, selected notes sent to ValhallaSuperMassive (on a bus channel) with GRM Spaces inserted post VSM, the sustained notes in the background are VSL Apassionata strings (violas/violins). The main reverb for all the strings is 2CAudio B2.
