my advice is don't panic yet...wait. Stay on your intel mac for a few more years. this will all get worked out for everything eventually but its going to be a couple years before all the trick audio stuff we do will be running on ARM...and frankly for audio use would definitely not buy a first generation ARM mac... be patient. The intel stuff is going to keep working as solidly as ever for the next few years. Take another look then.
I'm completely confident VSL will do whatever they need to do to continue supporting the mac platform.
Oh for sure. I'm just hoping VEP is an early adopter. I'm not selling this Mac Pro here, I will always have a decent backup hardware machine. VEP offers if they release an Arm compatible plug in, the ability to get a new MacBook pro in the next couple of years without much concern about other plug ins not making it to Arm chips. This is something I didn't do properly when I switched to OS X, being an early adopter etc.
In the end this will be fantastic, it's entirely possible to have a decently powerful master laptop or iMac with Arm chips that has no fans, running slaves in a closet or separate room. With VEP I'm not that worried about the power of the master, but zero fans, that's a plus.
