    Hallo guys,

    I have being using the free Version of VE6 since long time with Steinberg-Cubase and MakeMusic-Finale.

    I upgraded a couple of days ago to VE-Pro 7.

    I have two questions:

    1) Is there a fast way to convert my VE6 projects to VE-Pro 7, like with the feature "Convert Project to Vienna Instruments-Pro" for the time I upgraded from VI to VI-Pro?

    I have almost 50-60 projects, saved with VE6-Server (64-bit), that should be otherwise manually build up (each instance, channel etc.) for them to be opened with VE-Pro 7-Server (64-bit).   

    2) Until now, when I load a saved project in Cubase/Finale, which is using the VE6-Service, the VE6-Service app and the saved instances load automatically with the project.

    I noticed that does not work with VE-Pro 7. The server should be already running, before I load the Cubase/Finale project. When I forget, I should close the project, run the server and reload the project for the connection to be established.

    Hi, 

    1) The best way to go is to save your VE 6 projects (careful: naming conventions) and load them into VE Pro, then exchange your VE plug-in for a VE Pro plug-in and connect. 

    2) Yes, VE Pro needs to be started manually (also because we don't know which of your networked computers contain a running server). You can also open the VE Pro Server AFTER you loaded up Cubase, connections are always possible.

    • The #1 issue is solved and I need only 2-3 minutes to convert every project to VE-7 Pro.

    "careful: naming conventions" : What  did you mean by that?

    • Issue #2: I can indeed open the VE Pro Server AFTER I loaded up Cubase/Finale.                                              In Finale I should just reconnect to the server. Thanks! 

    • So, if I understand correctly VE 6 could open and established the connections automatically, because it does not include the feature of running servers on multiple servers. VE Pro 7 on the contrary does.

    Naming conventions: Just a reminder to use names that you can easily identify.

    => Correct.
    => VE only works on one computer, and we can therefore start the VE Service on that one computer.
