  • [Solved] VE Pro 6 + Kontakt 6

Been a long time VE Pro user, but I just noticed this weird misbehavior with Kontakt 6 when used inside VE Pro 6.

When trying to use libraries with multiple mic options, some controls don't answer. Faders and mute/solo buttons to be specific. I move the faders/press the buttons and it does nothing. So there's no way to fine-tune the mix of the different microphones (which is quite annoying).

This problem affects more than one vendor (Cinematic Studio Strings and Cinesamples so far as I can tell). The problem doesn't occur when I open the same libraries/instruments as standalone on the same machine. I did contact at least one of the vendor and they say they think the problem is likely with VE Pro.

Using Kontakt 6 and VE Pro 6 on a Windows 10 machine.
VE Pro IS connected to my DAW when I run my tests.
Other parts of the GUI work fine.

Any idea what's going on and (more importantly) if there's a fix? Has this been reported before? Thanks everyone,

P.S. For clarity, here's a screenshot so everyone knows which faders/buttons I'm referring to.

  • Hey Vincent,

please make sure that you use the latest VE Pro version (6.5.18947) - this could already make a difference.

I will try to reproduce your described behaviour with Cinematic Studio Strings, since you mentioned it.
If I understand you correctly, the issue here also are the faders in the mix section such as microphones and/or the panning-function for example, right?

    Best,
    Johannes

  • Hello Johannes,

That's right. Panning, faders and Solo/mute buttons of the mic section do nothing when opened inside VE Pro 6. Same with Cinematic Studio Strings and Cinematic Studio Brass. All work fine in standalone.

Just did the VE update. No difference. All sample libraries are also up to date.

Thank you for looking into it.

  • Hello Vincent,

"Unfortunately" it was not possible to reproduce for me - seems like, we have to dig deeper here...
Is it possible to send a short video of the process which illustrates the issue in more detail?
We might also need some log-files if this doesn't help, so feel free to write an email to support@vsl.co.at!

--> Then it's easier to get a closer look here!
    Best,
    Johannes

  • Hello Johannes,

Ok so I did some more testing on my own. Turns out the problem only occurs when I use my template. If I load each instrument one by one from scratch, I can use the mic mixing board. I don't know why that is though, since I barely made any changes to the original patch (apart from keyswitches and the likes). Somewhere along the line something must have broken the scripting, something I did or maybe during a past update? Strange that it would affect two different libraries from 2 different vendors in the same exact way...

For now it looks like the solution is to rebuild those parts of my template that are affected, and keep an eye out should the problem reappear.

Thanks for your help and sorry if I wasted your time.
