  • [SOLVED] VI PRO - Slider Assignment Dropdown No Longer Showing All Available Controls

    Never had this happen before.

In VI Pro the Basic> Slider Assignment Dropdown is showing a truncated list of assignment options. Specifically it is no longer showing Velocity X-Fade as an option for any of the instruments in my Brass instance, even though it shows assigned to CC2 in Advanced> Control Map.

Synchronize Control Map had been on, and I did some editing of percussion instruments and then brass yesterday. I don't need Vel X-Fade for percussion. I suppose I might have removed the slider from one of them, though I don't remember doing so. So I turned off SCM in case this was responsible, but it doesn't make any difference, still no Velocity X-Fade (see attached image).

I also loaded some previous brass presets as part of my editing, but that shouldn't limit my options once I load the, should it?

I wondered if I had inadvertently started creating VI non-Pro channels, but that's not the case.

The Vel X-Fade slider is critical for my work, as you might imagine. Help!

    Hi DaddyO,

We will look into it. Which OS are you on, and are you using VI Pro in VE Pro (which version)?

For now, you can safely roll back to the archive version (uninstall the current version, then reinstall).

    Best,
    Paul

  • VI Pro 2 in VE Pro 7 on Windows 10 Home

I'll roll back. I did install all the recent updates yesterday, including VI Pro, so perhaps that's the culprit.

I can find the VI Pro Standalone, where do I find the plugin, which is what I was using, and how do I make sure I've completely uninstalled it?

Let me know if you want me to send you a copy of the file.

  • I went ahead and tried uninstalling Vienna Instruments Pro Standalone using the Windows uninstall for  (in case it should work), also reinstalled previous version 18624 (I typically keep a copy of the previous version). No effect. Same problem.

  • DaddyO,

I had the same problem!  Here's how I fixed it:

I initially assigned the fader to one of the controllers indicated on the truncated list (ideally, the one at the bottom).  Then, once I selected the assignment button again, the rest of the list magically appeared.  In some cases, I had to "work my way down the list" and keep selecting the bottom-most control for the rest of the menu to appear in subsequent selections.

Does this fix it for you?

Also, another thought: does it happen for you when the scaling is at 100% or 200%?  My fix worked in 200% scaling, but I didn't try it in 100%...

    EDIT: I'm also on Windows 10, VEP7.

    Paul,

I have a feeling this is a bug introduced by the Retina update, as it didn't occur for me until that update.

  • Wow, Sam, as soon as I selected the bottom item in the dropdown it restored all the items in the list.

    Problem solv-ed.

I am running dual identical 27-inch 4K displays scaled to 175% for 65-year-old eyes.

Hopefully this means the problem is display only and not that my Basic View fader assignments are going to require constant care and feeding.

    Thanks a bunch!

Edited to add: Using the Synchronize Control Map setting allowed me to quickly restore the Velocity Map fader to the Basic View of all my channels. At least I now know how to deal with it if the problem recurs. I reinstalled the recent VI Pro update just now, and everything looks normal with the fader assignments.

  • Hi guys,

Thanks for the catch, we should have this fixed with the next update.

EDIT: Just realized that no fix is necessary - even better!
