    Hello everybody,

Today is the day our vast collection of percussion instruments grows quite substantially, with Synchron Percussion II, and of course we have also lowered the prices for Synchron Percussion I at this occasion!

334,817 Samples and 7 mic positions with many velocity layers (from ppp to fff) and round-robins will give you sounds that are as close to the real instruments as possible.

Available as a whole pack or as 6 separate subsets, this collection is sampled with great detail and provides perfect placement, great mixer presets and all the features our Synchron player offers.

Here's what's new in the available subsets:

    Synchron Timpani II:
    Timpani played with soft mallets

    Synchron Drums II:
    Taikos 8"-53"
    Roto Toms G2-B4
    Bass Drum Lefima 28"

    Synchron Mallets II:
    Vibraphone (Musser)
    Crotales (Bergerault)

    Synchron Cymbals & Gongs II:
    Tam-tam 70 cm
    Burma Gongs C2-C6
    China Gongs

    Synchron Bells II:
    Plate bells C2-C7
    Temple bells

    Synchron Orchestral Percussion II:
    Thundersheets (2 pieces)
    Windmachine
    Rainmaker
    Ratchets (3 pieces)
    Vibraslaps (2 pieces)
    Slapsticks (3 pieces)
    Lion's roar
    Waldteufel (2 pieces)
    Log drum
    Anvils (4 pieces)

    All the best from Vienna,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Do these merge with the Percussion I instruments to extend the techniques or are they separate instruments?

  • Hi Bill,

The instruments and articulations are merged with the corresponding subsets of Synchron Percussion I.

  • Hi Paul,

After reviewing the list of articulations in Synchron Percussion II, there appears to be some overlap with Synchron Percussion I.  Am I mistaken?  If not, why is there not upgrade pricing for those of us who have the full license for Synchron Percussion I?

I'll look forward to hearing from you soon.

    thanks and best regards,
    jim

    Hi Jim,

    No overlaps, only additions.

I have posted the list in the description of this overview on YouTube, hope that helps.

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

After a careful further review, looking very closely at each of these two library's detailed list of instruments and articulations, there are no exact overlaps.  Some of the differences between Synchron Percussion I and II are quite subtle, however, such as the very precisely identified instruments and articulations for Timpani and Bass Drum.  Thanks for providing your clarifications.

After I purchase and preview all of the instruments and articulations in Synchron Percussion II, I'll have to get back to you as to whether or not my ears are still capable of distinguishing the subtle differences I saw between these two related library variants, especially given that I've listened to a whole lot of Return to Forever (Lenny White, Romantic Warrior era) Led Zeppelin (John Bonham), and Mahavishnu Orchestra (Billy Cobham) during the past many years.  It also likely does not help that I listen to Rachmaninov's piano concertos only with the volume set at  "11" (ร  la This is Spinal Tap) ๐Ÿ˜ ...

    thanks again and best regards,
    jim

  • Timpani I uses medium mallets. Timpani II uses soft mallets. Nothing subtle about that.

We'll see about that shortly, Bill, after I download, activate, install, and preview the Synchron Percussion II library.  I trust Paul implicitly, so I'm inclined to believe that he and you are correct in that regard.

Still, however, as a quantitative and empirical methods geek, it's all about the ears.  I just hope that they still work well enough to perceive and appreciate the difference.

    best regards,

I still hope/waiting for RR reset function implementation for both Perc I and Perc II
Each time this sequence plays with different accents

    Best regards,
    Vadim

  • Hi Vadim,

    Thanks for the reminder.
We'll check what's going on there, and how long the reset time is. Do you get the same result if you wait a few seconds between playback?

EDIT: Reset time is usually 3 seconds... can be tricky with loops, agreed.

    Paul

  • Paul,

These all sound amazing, especially the taikos.

    A few questions:

    1) Does the new Output Config feature of the Synchron Player apply only to the close mics of the patches in which the feature is available, or can you also reposition the mid mic layer as well? (Or, am I misunderstanding how this works...does each drum have a close mic *and* a mid mic, or is the mid mic for the ensemble as a whole?  If so, do you just turn off the mid mic when re-panning the individual drums so as not to confuse the stereo imaging?)

    2) Does this new feature extend to relevant patches of Synchron Percussion I - like the med. Timpani hits or the concert toms?

    3) Might there be a video walkthrough or demonstration of this feature going up soon?

I'm very interested in this feature and the potential to create an authentic, traditional taiko drum layout.

    - Sam

  • Hi Sam,

    Here are a few answers:

    1) Yes, you get more flexibility there, and repositioning the mid mic layer is possible, but rather tedious. Mid mic position is always the same (also for bigger instruments / sections like Timpani).

    2) Yes, if you apply the Library Update for SY perc I, this feature will be available for Timpani and Concert Toms.

    3) These new options have been implemented pretty straight-ahead in the libraries. Let's see how much demand there is for a walkthrough.

    Best,
    Paul

Yes, if I wait a few seconds, result is same. Waiting a few seconds - as if the functionality of the accelerator and brake pedals in a car were interrupted for advertising)) Also there are different results between playback and mixdown, if RR notes are spreads across the music with long pauses.

  • Hi Vadim,

We will look into it next week!

    Hello Viennese,

great additions In the last months! And this is truly a Highlight. I bought everything and will finally download A LOT this WE.

2 questions arenโ€™t left since most percussion instruments are recorded now. Are Marimba and Concert chimes a topic for an update/upgrade or are the percussions โ€žIm Kastenโ€œ and ended now?

Thanks and keep recording BBO Libraries ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

    Hi LAJ,

Glad to see you happy, and thanks for sharing your joy ๐ŸŽ‰

We will never stop recording, but we cannot talk about products that don't exist (yet)...

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hello LAJ!

Concert chimes are included in Synchron Percussion I. They are called tubular bells there which is just a different name for the same instrument.

    Best regards,
    Andi

    Hello everybody,

We finally managed to upload more detailed walkthrough, with a focus on the sounds themselves.

Find them in the video section of Synchron Percussion II!

    Enjoy,
    Paul

  • I'm interested too Andreas, I'm loving the instruments I already have in the synchron player.

But I already have a lot of VI percussion, and to my casual review it seems to be a lot more comprehensive instrument list - am I correct? Will Synchron grow over time to be as extensive as VI, or should they be seen as partners?

And..... could you please record some bongos for me!

    Cheers,

    Barton.
