  • BBO Phoenix BBO Quasar - confusion

    Hi Paul,

I am *very confused* regarding VSL's new releases of BBO Phoenix BBO Quasar.

In the web page product descriptions for each, it specifically says:
"This module offers a fine selection of pitched/unpitched solo percussion instruments taken from Synchron Percussion I and Synchron Percussion II."

I would typically take this to mean that BBO Phoenix BBO Quasar are *subsets* of Synchron Percussion I and Synchron Percussion II, and that licensers of Synchron Percussion I and Synchron Percussion II would derive no benefit or additional sample library content from purchasing BBO Phoenix BBO Quasar.

On the other hand, I find myself questioning why would VSL release the "newly named" products BBO Phoenix BBO Quasar if the above were the case.  Also, P & Q (for Phoenix and Quasar) are next in the alphabetical release naming convention of *new* VSL BBO sample libraries.

**So, are BBO Phoenix BBO Quasar two "new" products with *totally newly released content*, or are they subsets of selected instruments "taken from Synchron Percussion I and Synchron Percussion II", as their product web pages state?  I have the full licenses for Synchron Percussion I and Synchron Percussion II, consequently I am uncertain about whether or not I need to purchase BBO Phoenix BBO Quasar to keep my collection of VSL Synchron libraries up to date with all latest content and versions.

Thanks very much in advance for any clarification that you can provide about this.

  • Hi,

As stated on the product page and as I mentioned in the announcement thread: BBO P and Q contain selected isntruments and articulations from Synchron Percussion I and II. If you already own these there is nothing new in these BBO libraries and no reason to get these.

    Best, Ben

Thank you very much for your clarification, Ben.  All of this is *crystal clear* now. :-)
