  • Single layer patches

    Hi,

I’ve usually simply ignored the single layer patches in the VI collections.

Now, I’m starting to think that they can instead be very useful, when the dynamic range of a passage is limited, and you want the greater control on the cresc./dim. inside that limited range. It's what is offered in some Synchron libraries, where a Soft patch is included next to the full range one. The most notable advantage should be that there is no crossfade point.

Am I correct in seeing it this way?

  • Hi Paolo,

Yes, that's the point here, more control in that specialized velocity area.

  • Thank you for confirming, Paul. I'll prepare some matrices with a limited set. By following your examples with the Synchron series, maybe just splitting the full pp-ff range by two can be enough.
