I could swear that I used to be able to play my midi keyboard that is connected to my DAW (Cubase 10.5) while I'm in Vienna Studios with the instance my track is on in Cubase.
Am I crazy? Doesn't this functionality exist? If it does I have somehow managed to disable that connection.
Everything plays perfectly once I go back to Cubase and either enter note from Synth kb or play the recorded track.
I have looked all around and cannot find any configuration information that would seem to "re-enable" this assuming I am remembering this correctly.

It normally functions that we may hear it whether focused in eg., Cubase or VE Pro, yes, so something is wrong. I don't know what it is, sorry to say.

Hi scottgius,
In Cubase, please make sure you have unchecked "Release Audio Driver when Application is in background" in "Devices" => "Device Setup" => "VST Audio System"
Does that solve the problem?

Actually, I figured out the functionality still works if I run Cubase 10.0.6, but not with the May release 10.5
I have submitted a ticket with Steinberg and am using 10.0.6 from Feb 2020 as a workaround because I need this feature. I appreciate the fellow user suggestions and I hope if anyone is experiencing this it helps them for now.

BTW, I looked and realized the "Release Audio Driver option was toggled Yes in 10.5 but off in 10.0.6
Once I toggled it to off in 10.5 the functionality works.
