• [SOLVED] Main computer not recognizing slave computer on VEPro 6. Using Ableton

    Hello,

I'm trying to route two computers with Vienna Ens. Pro 6, but my main computer is not recognizing the Vienna Ens. 6 Server on my slave computer. I'm using Ableton. Here are my steps.

    1. Both computers (Windows) are hooked up to my router via ethernet and each has a VSL Key. Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 is downloaded on both computers.

    2. I run the 64 bit version of Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 Server on my slave computer and create a bus.

    3. I open Ableton on my main computer.

    4. I add the 64bit Vienna Ens. Pro 6  plugin to an Ableton Midi track and press connect.

    No server instance shows.

Any advice? (Besides don't use ableton :D)

  • Hi haimir,

Have you already checked the network/firewall settings as described here?

  • Thanks for your response Ben.

I added the ports and tried downloading the Bonjour service. Unfortunately, no success. Is there something else I'm missing?

  • Try enabling network discovery on both systems like described here.

Sorry for the late reply Ben. Was away from my computer for the week. Unfortunately, this didn't work either.

  • I was actually able to get a connection by manually inputting the IPv4 address and instance of my slave computer directly.

Still not sure why the discovery isn't working though.

  • Hello haimir,

Something in your setup must be blocking communication there.... Did you disconnect from the internet and disable all "protection software", just to test?

  • Thank you! I finally figured it out. I needed to allow Ableton through my firewall as well. Thank you everyone for your help!
