  • Worry about Synchron Vs VI

    Hi,

In 2005, I bought - the first ? - VSL version for Giga studio for 4500 Canadian $.

In 2008, I discovered this version was already out of date. So, I began to switch to the actual VI version for 15 000 € or something near.

Since 12 years, I've been working with almost the whole VI library and I'm quite happy with this.

I tried yesterday the Synchron version of the special keyboard library.

    1. The harpsichord sound is really better, really softer and I enjoyed it a lot. Anyway, why is there still no lute stop ? We don't need so much 8 and 4 feet, but lute stop is really different and useful.

    2. Even if I'm ready to learn a new way of working, I was disappointed by the complexity of Synchron Player.

I can change the tune to 415 Hz, but I couldn't find temperaments.

Another thing is, I'm working with Sibelius - or Finale - and change patch with Controllers  - ~C0, 25 for ex.

Long notes, 8th, 16th , 32th.... need a different controller and it's quite easy to work with. I haven't understand a way to switch rapidly between patch with controllers. The only way is to add an out of range note and it would be crazy to overload the orchestral score with usefulness notes.

The fact is I'm today worry about :

    1. Having to change one more time of library for 4000€,

    2. Having to work with with very inadequate tools and finally lose in quality

3, Finally, lose a lot for no gain

If someone had some elements of answer,

    Thanks in advance,

    F. P.

  • I must have missed something. Are VI libraries no longer supported, and we are forced to use Synchron ones?

  • Actually, after chatting,  it seems that it is not.

    So, no news, good news.

    Hi SPIPPROD,

Thanks for posting. Quite some of our users decide to stick to their existing setup with Vienna Instruments, and add some products that have been developed for the Synchron Player (multi-mic recordings) as they become available.

    Regarding Sibelius:

It seems like you are adding switches yourself to your Sibelius score to change articulations. If you use our soundsets for Sibelius, this is not necessary. Our VSL Soundset Installer for Sibelius can be found here.

Detailed information on how to use our libraries with Sibelius can be found here.

    Hope that helps!

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

To mix both libraries was also my idea - But it looks like my way of using VI pro player makes impossible to work with Synchron Player

I know the VSL sound installer for Sibelius or Finale, but it's neither accurate, nor reliable enough - I really prefer adding by myself.

    Thanks for helping,

    Best,
