Does VEP work as a plugin in Dorico?

So if I make a whole template with VEP inside Dorico, I can save that and load that one file into Cubase?

You'd want to build your template independently and save it as a server project. You can then connect to it from either Dorico or Cubase (open template first).

So technically, I would be able to run the same playback setup using all the same instruments this way?
I could match my settings exactly by opening my VEP file in either VST program (Dorico and Cubase)?

While it is working fine as a host of virtual instruments, here on my Mac, I can't succede in making the audio inter-app channelling work.
To be more clear: [Dorico VSTi] --> [VEP MIDI In] --> [VIs] --> [Audio Out 1/2 back to Dorico] works fine.
But then [Dorico Audio Out 3/4 and over] --> [VEP Audio In] --> [FX hosted in VEP] --> [Dorico Audio In 3/4] is not working. Steinberg has currently no idea of why this is happening. I doubt it is a priority investigating on it.
Shame, because this would allow the use of the integrated effects in VEP while mixing the score.

Dorico Expression maps are also a bit different then Cubase expression maps, FYI.

"Dorico Expression maps are also a bit different then Cubase expression maps, FYI."
Oh, I am aware.
I have programmed about 60 expression maps for Cubase and now I am working on a list of over 100 for Dorico.
My interest with VEP is to see if it would work towards unifying a notation template and a production template.
A big problem I have so far in working with both Cubase and Dorico is how much redundancy there is in building these things. Dorico does allow importing Cubase expression maps, which is a small token here.
When Dorico was first announced, I was excited for the direct implementation of Dorico to either replace the score editor in Cubase, or have it linked directly in Rewire fashion for MIDI with the transports linked.
It is beyond me that this hasn't been a central focus for them. 5 years on and you still don't even have a unified expression map system between the two. I hope they step up their game and stop sleeping on what is probably the most crucial nexus in their market.
