VE Pro and VST plugin compatibility

So,

I am considering VEP to house my instruments that are currently existing as instrument tracks in Cubase.

I would like to do the mixing in VEP and run the audio groups back to Cubase.

My concern is that many VST plugins are not being recognized by VEP.

I gave VEP more folders to scan, and it is still not seeing many mix plugins that are extant in those folders.

It doesn't any of the Steinberg plugins, nor does it see any of my new gadgets like Gulfoss or Sonible Smart EQ2.

I am currently using VEP 5.4

Is there better plugin compatibility in VEP 7? Is this specifically a VST2 vs VST3 format?

VEP only recognizes VST2 plugs

Finale 25, Sibelius 2018, Notion 6, Overture 5, Cubase 10.5, StaffPad
