Hi,
I'm using a Mac, but with Dorico I have to use VEP7 as a VST plugin. It works fine, so that's OK.
When inserting a plugin in VEP, I have to decide if adding it as an AU or a VST plugin. Does it make any difference? I would prefer AU, since I suspect it works better with CoreAudio, but I fear there may be compatibility issues when receiving data from Dorico, that is expecting VST plugins.

VE Pro's status as VST plugin in a host carries no expectation that its plugins match that. There's pretty much no way that could even be because the host [here, Dorico] is not hosting the plugins., VE Pro is.
I have to use VE Pro in Cubase or Nuendo as VST and until a couple of yrs ago when VSL made VST possible in the Mac version all the plugins were AU.

I think both AU and VST are equally reliable. the only way to host AU inside Dorico would be to use a VST wrapper around it, which would not be any more reliable, if a anything less..though it should work ok too but why do it? I think just use VST
5,1 MacPro 12core X 3.46ghz, 128gb ram, RX580 video, OSX Catalina on OpenCore, VSL (almost everything), LogicPro, Cubase10, StudioOne, DP9, Reaper, Dorico, Finale, MuseScore, Notion6, EW Hollywood Orch, Kirk Hunter, GPO, much more..

Thank you both for your answers.
So, either AU or VST should work as well. But since there may be VST-specific commands (for example, VST3 expression commands), I would probably be better using all VST with Dorico.
