  • Synchron player not finding Sibelius presets

    Hi,

    I'm trying to configure Epic Orchestra 2.0 for Sibelius. I've installed the sound sets. Vienna Instrument can find the Sibelius presets, but Synchron player can not. I have manually added the user preset folder for Sibelius sound sets to Synchron player database.

    I should be able to see Sibelius sound sets in Synchron player/browser/preset tab?

    Thanks,

  • Hello 154465!

    There are no dedicated Synchron Player presets for Sibelius. The sound sets for our Synchron libraries work with the Synchron Player factory presets.

  • Thank you,

    I don't think I understand.

    Do this mean I should be able to configure Sibelius to use Vienna Ensamble Pro 7 with Epic Orchestra 2.0 samples played through Synchron Player?

    Or, does "Sibelius: VSL Soundset Installer v.1.0.184" only contain sound set for Vienna Instruments samples, and can not be used with Synchron player?

  • Hi again!

    >> Do this mean I should be able to configure Sibelius to use Vienna Ensamble Pro 7 with Epic Orchestra 2.0 samples played through Synchron Player?

    => Correct.

    >> Or, does "Sibelius: VSL Soundset Installer v.1.0.184" only contain sound set for Vienna Instruments samples, and can not be used with Synchron player?

    => The VSL Soundset Installer for Sibelius installs the following things:

    - Sibelius sound sets for our libraries (including sound sets for Vienna Instruments and for Synchron libraries such as Epic Orchestra 2.0)

    - The "Vienna Symphonic Library" house style for Sibelius which includes instrument definitions and dictionary entries.

    - Vienna Instruments presets for Sibelius. (There are no dedicated Synchron Player presets for Sibelius. The sound sets for our Synchron libraries work with the Synchron Player factory presets.)

    - Manuals on how to use our libraries with Sibelius. They can be found in the Applications folder under "VSL Sibelius Soundsets" on Mac and in the Windows Start menu under "VSL Sibelius Soundsets".

  • Thank you.

    So far I'm satisfied being able to connect Sibelius (2020.9) on my master machine with Vienna Ensamble Pro 7 on my slave machine and getting sound when playing the score. However, I can not get automatic articulation (legato, staccato, pizz etc) changes to work. I've tried following the "VE Optimizing Sibelius playback" pdf.

    In Sibelius on my master machine I have:

    • Imported the "Vienna Symphonic Library" house style.
    • Changed instruments. I've tried for example "Violin I (Ensemble) [VSL Special Edition]" and "Violin I [VSL Appassionata Strings].
    • Made a new playback configuration: Active device "Vienna Ensamble Pro". Sound set "VSL Ensamble Special Edition". Program name "Violin ensemble Appassionata".

    On my slave machine with Ensamble Pro 7 I am using Epic Orchestra 2.0 "01 SYCHRON-ized Epic Orchestra" and the preset "01 Appassionata Strings".

    1. Should automatic articulation changes work in a slave-master machine setup?
    2. If it should work, what configurations are not properly set?

  • Hello!

    Articulation changes with Epic Orcgestra 2.0 can only work correctly with the sound set "VE Epic Orchestra" assigned.

    All details on what to load and how to change articulations are described in the chapter "VE Epic Orchestra" of the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual.

    >> Should automatic articulation changes work in a slave-master machine setup?

    => Yes.

    Best regards,
    Andi
