  • Occasional audio dropout from slave via VEPRO 7

    Hello,

I've just built around 1800 tracks (1600 midi tracks and 200 aux tracks) big orchestral template.

But I got serious problem, occasionally causing audio dropout and a little bit pop and crackes in DAW.

Especially it happens when holding very long notes or harmonies building to climax by layering notes.

I've never experienced like this before updating the template.

     My system is like this.

    -Logic: 10.5.1

    -main: 2013 late macpro, 12core, 64gb

    -slave1: i7-6800k, 128gb,

    -slave2: i7, 64gb

    -slave3: 2019 macbookpro, 64gb

I got about 50 instances in VEPRO7 in Slave 1. Maybe too heavy?

But I found out that this happens for all slaves. In salve 2, only 10 instances there.

All slaves got their static IP address hooked into switch hub. No WIFI.

Lan Card is Intel Ethernet Connection 1218-V. (Main board default)

Logic performance meter moves under 25% overall. Also slave computer's using just around 20% CPU power.

    No CPU SPIKE!

I powered off all unused instruments.

Only I used 10 tracks including piano and some string samples.

Also I used a few Altiverbs. But the dropout problem sometimes happens when even disabling all FX plug-ins.

I don't know why this happens. It doesn't happen very often. But it's frustrating. I cannot focus on working.

I doubt some bottleneck? or unstable ethernet connection.

I cannot remember the cable I'm using is CAT 5 or 6 with cheap swtich. Replacement needed?

Do you think too many bus routing in DAW can cause this?

Is there any way to optimize VEPRO setting in my case?

Your comments would be very appreciated!!!!!

  • Instead of disabling wifi, I plggued out the Wifi USB.

I remember there was some conflict between wifi and ethernet before.

After toally removing the wifi usb, It seems audio dropout and pops & crackles's gone so far.

I'll keep an eye on it.
