  • Synchron Strings I Optimized Content

    Hi everybody,

If you have BOTH Synchron Strings I and Synchron Strings Pro in your VSL arsenal and you want to save some space on your hard drive (more than 50%), check out our OPTIMIZED CONTENT for Synchron Strings I. We have removed the redundant articulations that are already incorporated in Synchron Strings Pro, making this a much lighter package while keeping the additional articulations available.

Find the download file for this optional download in MyVSL.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Paul, any chance an updated to the Optimized set will add the (very) long crescendo and diminuendo? The are not included in SSP, and are unique and fantastic articulations!

    Paolo

  • Hi Paolo,

As these long crescendos take so much space (and diskspace) and are also unique to Synchron Strings I, we decided not to include them with the optimized content. You always have the option to keep the original Synchron Strings I sample content.

    Paul

I understand. I'll keep them in my mind as special articulations I have and can use, when I have the needed space. In the meantime, maybe the high number of dynamic layers of the SS1 sustains can simulate "normally long" cresc./dim. well enough.

Thank you for the optimized content, that is a great way to integrate the two Synchron Strings libraries.

    Paolo

  • this is very helpful - thanks so much Paul!

  • I'd like to add my thanks for the optimized content.

A (perhaps) very elementary question. After installing the optimized content, my folder containing Synchron libraries now contains one sub-folder called "Synchron Stings I" (271 GB) and a second called "Synchron Strings I optimized" (124 GB).

Am I right In assuming I need both of these folders?

    Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

I wish you guys included the Synchron Strings 1 Shorts in the optimized version. These are very good sounding, but sadly they are not included. I had Synchron Strings 1 (Full) deleted form my drive a long time ago to save SSD space.

Anyways, I decided not to bother with installing the optimized version mainly because of this omission. I will just enjoy using Synchron Strings Pro (Full version).

    Cheers,

    Muziksculp

  • Hi muziksculp,

We find that the adapted shorts with 5 velocities fit the sound of the Synchron Strings Pro much better. So if you see the Synchron Strings I Content as an additional content to Synchron Strings Pro (and I think, many Synchron Strings Pro users have this perspective), this makes sense.

Of course you're free to keep the original content.

    Best,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

there was a strings all patch in Synchron Strings I, it's no longer present in the optimized version. Do I have to keep the heavy original version just to use these patches ? Any chance it can be in an update of optimized version ?

    Thanks

Nevermind, I just realized there are patches "Tutti full range" in SS Pro, that's what I need.

    So no problem !

  • There was no response to the question I posted earlier, quoted below. Apologies if it's a dumb question.

"I'd like to add my thanks for the optimized content.

  • Hello vanceen,

The "Synchron Strings I" folder with 271 GB contains the original content of your Synchron Strings I.
The "Synchron Strings I optimized" folder with 124 GB contains the optimized content of your Synchron Strings I.

So you can delete the Synchron Strings I folder with 271 GB and use the optimized sample content instead.

  • Hi, When I updated to Optimized version - I lost the Contabile articulations lagato...

    Why?

now, I'll have to download it all and set it back to the way I want.

    Hi Karmand,

That was a decision that seemed obvious to us. Here is an overview of the articulations, the bold ones are the ones we kept in the optimized Synchron Strings I.

  • Hi, I'm a bit confused about how to use the optimized Strings I. It seems some sounds are only in the regular instrument folder, while others are only in the Optimized folder. An example:

    01 1st Violins-14 VelXF has Full->Tremolo->Tremolo->Long-Vibrato (however...Long-Vibrato is x'ed out)

01 1st Violins-14 optimized VelXF has no reference to Tremolo *at all*

Strings Pro has a Tremolo->Tremolo but no vibrato options (under Tremolo).

So am I right in understanding I have to go through all 3 different instruments to find the right articulation? And also, there is a whole lot of red x's in the Full Strings I instruments. Would it not be better to hide those? It is very confusing to select what you think is the right articulation only to realize it does not work and you have to try to find it in one of the other two instruments instead.

    Thanks!

    Tom

  • Hello Tom!

It makes no sense to have the optimized version AND the full version of Synchron Strings I installed. I recommend either having the full content version installed - in this case you have lots of duplicate articulations in comparison to Synchron Strings Pro, OR having the optimized version installed. The optimized content offers articulations that you don't have in Synchron Strings Pro.

Crossed out articulations are not normal. They point to missing patches. If everything is installed correctly, there should be no crossed out slots after loading a preset. If this problem comes up after loading a preset from the preset browser, I recommend re-downloading and re-installing the content and library updates.

    Best regards,
    Andi

  • Hi Andi!

Thanks - to be clear, I purchased Strings I yesterday. I only installed the Optimized version, + the cantabile update right after, before opening Synchron Player. In explorer, I see two related folders: Synchron Strings I that contains 19.8GB, and Synchron Strings I optimized that contains 124GB

I will try to re-install as well, thanks!

EDIT: Removed the two folders from Explorer, re-downloaded and only installed Synchron Strings I. Now things look a lot better! I guess the cantabile update somehow triggers showing the regular Synchron Strings I folders even for articulations/slots that do not have any content.

The downside would be that a quick look is not showing Cantabile anywhere? I guess this is covered by Molto Vibrato in Strings Pro then?

    Tom

  • Hi Tom!

The cantabile update is for the Synchron Strings I full content version. If you don't have the full content version installed, please remove the cantabile update. In this case it only adds non-functional presets.

The normal sustain and legato patches of Synchron Strings Pro are cantabile. That's why the cantabile patches are not included in the Synchron Strings I optimized content.

    Best regards,
    Andi
