  • layering sounds in Synchron player

    Is there a way to layer two patches together in the Synchron player, like we can do in VIPro. , without having two instances running at the same time? For example I'd like to layer Synchron Strings Pro with the Synchronized Chamber strings.

  • The thing described in the original post is not achievable in Synchron Player as it is in VI Pro, with parallel stacking in the Slots window (up to 4 pairs). The Parallel Mode is for transitions, pretty much as one pair of slots with Slot Crossfade assigned does.

    Can you clarify that a bit? Not sure I totally understand what the distinction is.


  • VI Pro has the capacity for four pairs of slots in a sort of stack. Synchron Player is stacking nothing like that, it's just a type of crossfade like one of the mixer slots in VI Pro. Also, in VI Pro, let's say we're using CC20 for Slot Crossfade: at a value of 127 the B slot is given full volume as well as the A slot; in Synchron, when the next articulation in the dimension is past its threshold it simply means we have fully crossfaded to it. So two long sustaining patches in A and B is a bit dodgy for a realistic single performer emulation, but you have actual stacking up to 8 times.

    Of course you can layer multiple sounds, and even more then were possible in the VI player :)

    1) Use a dimension and control the selected slot via a dimension controller.
    2) Use a dimension with enabled parallel mode to enable crossfading between the articulations
    3) Use a dimension with enabled parallel mode and parallel mode set to "Mix" for each slot to simply play everything in parallel
    4) Mix 2 and 3 to create some special articulations, for example sustained articulations in mix mode, in combination with short notes or dynamics. Now you can control the amount of accent / marcato vie the dimension controller.

    Hi Ben.

    In Synchron Player, can I assign an instrument to a specific voice in a chord as it was in VI Pro? I mean something like Opus Orchestrator.
