    Hi,

    There is an articulation that I can't fully understand. It is called "Performance détaché" (VI_perf-detache), and what it does is to play a first note long (looped), the subsequent ones legato, and a last one, if kept held, short and unlooped.

    What's the different with a legato articulation? When is this intended to be used? It is included among the "shorts", but it seems more a legato with a short ending note. And it is very similar to the unlooped perf-legato.

    It is meant for playing connected detaché lines... compare it with the regular legato with some musical figures.

    Music is that paradox, where you can have a line and a curve coexist in the same plane…

    The 'connected' in 'connected detaché' means you're maintaining string contact with the bow until the phrase ends, and the performance articulation indicates that end.
